Vision-Aid's COVID program update
Vision-Aid is offering a COVID response program for persons who are visually impaired, and their families - a segment hard-hit in the pandemic. (More details of the full program can be found at Vision-Aid's COVID Response website: www.COVID.VisionAid.org). Here is an update from the programs in Agra, and also in Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Vizag and Vijayawada (in partnership with the L.V.Prasad Eye Instittue).
Vision-Aid Friendship Kits
One of the programs underway in 5 cities - Agra, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Vizag and Vijayawada (in partnership with the L.V.Prasad Eye Institute), is the distribution of COVID relief kits for persons hit hard economically with the lockdowns. The kits, also called the Vision-Aid Friendship Kits contain essential supplies to beneficiaries. The kits contain masks, nutritional supplements and groceries, enough to serve a family healthy nutrition for several weeks and include Wheat Flour, Rice, Dal r, Dal Masoor, Dal khadi masoor (Kali), Musterd Oil, Dal Chana, Salt, Besan, Tea leaf, Sugar, Turmeric, Coriander, Lal Mirch, Kala Chana and Milk Powder.
Because of low overheads, and largely volunteer run programs, the cost of each kit is only $30. We thank everyone who is supporting this program. A $30 donatoin goes a long way in providing healthy nutrition to our visually impaired beneficiaries and their families healthy nutrition and other supplies (including maskss) for weeks, and on their behalf we sincerely thank you!
